Best Summer Camps For Kids In Colorado Springs | 2021While children are on break from school, it's important to keep their minds active. Fortunately, the best summer camps in Colorado Springs offer age-appropriate activities while parents are at work. These camps in Colorado Springs allow kids to meet new friends and have fun in the sun.

Pikes Peak Athletics

Pikes Peak Athletics offers swim camps for children ages 4–12 years old. These camps help children gain confidence in the water and learn valuable safety lessons. Campers will learn how to perform many swimming styles, including the freestyle stroke, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly stroke, and sidestroke. In addition to swimming, children will engage in interactive deck games that help grow their ability to work in teams.

Parents may choose to have their children swim at the Pikes Peak Athletics Training Center for the AM Camp, PM camp, or both during the following weeks. Children who participate in both camps each day are eligible for a discounted rate:

Colorado Springs Conservatory

The Colorado Springs Conservatory summer camp in 2021 is the Piccolo program. Toddlers will have the opportunity to learn to play up to three songs on a piccolo. Children 0–3 years old are exposed to music as early as possible to develop a lifelong relationship with music. Studies have found that children who are exposed to music early forge crucial social and emotional life skills.

A legal guardian 18 years or older must attend each class with the child. When registering, children may be enrolled in either series:

  • Series 1: June 8, June 15, June 22, June 29
  • Series 2: July 13, July 20, July 27, August 3

Other than the child and legal guardian, nothing else is required. The conservatory will provide all other materials. Children will be exposed to rhythm, singing, and dancing. Before the class ends, little ones will get to hear a new story from a storybook. Toddlers who respond well to the class can continue their lessons at the Conservatory.

Camp Whiskers & Wags

The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPK) offers the Camp Whiskers & Wags summer camp program multiple weeks during summer vacation. Each week, a different grade level is eligible to attend the camp. Eligible students ages 7–15 years old will learn about animal biology and basic wildlife safety. Many of the skills children will learn at this camp can be used on family hikes throughout scenic Colorado Springs in the future.

The dates for each age group are as follows:

  • June 7-11: Pet Pals; kids entering 2nd & 3rd grades
  • June 14-18: Furry Friends; kids entering 4th & 5th grades
  • June 21-25: Humane Helpers; kids entering 6th & 7th grades
  • June 28-July 2: Shelter Super-Heroes; kids ages 9–13
  • July 12-16: Pet Pals; kids entering 2nd & 3rd grades
  • July 19-23: Furry Friends; kids entering 4th & 5th grades
  • July 26-30: Humane Helpers; kids entering 6th & 7th grades
  • Aug 2-6: Critter Careers; kids ages 11–15

Those attending the camp will engage in age-appropriate activities. HSPPK has taken the time to create unique experiences for each age group. Children will have the opportunity to have daily hands-on experience with animals of many different sizes, including furry, fuzzy, and scaly friends.

The hardest decision parents will need to make this summer is the best summer camps their child will enjoy the most! Fortunately, the Colorado Springs community has a wide range of options for children of all ages. From music and animals to swimming and board games, kids will have a great time learning new skills–and hopefully run through some of their energy out by pick-up time.
