The Best (And Most Unique!) Wineries to Visit in Colorado SpringsColorado may not be known first for its wine, but that doesn't mean there isn't great wine to be had in this state. Colorado Springs, the second-most populous city in Colorado, has some great wineries that many people outside of this state may not know about. So, for anyone visiting Colorado Springs, or even those who currently live in the city or may wish to relocate here, it is time to discover some of the best wineries in and very close to here.

D'Vine Wine

D'Vine Wine is a boutique winery in Colorado Springs that imports their quality grapes, handcrafts, blends, and ferments their wine right on location. They even allow customers to make their own custom blend, guiding them through the process. This winery offers wine tastings, wine by the glass or bottle, and even bottling parties for patrons to make their own wine, complete with a custom label, with friends. Additionally, they have wine club memberships that include a 20% discount on all purchases, free wine tastings, 3 releases per year, and more.

Vino Colorado Winery at The Sweet Elephant

Located in Old Colorado City, Vino Colorado Winery is a locally owned and operated tasting room that has been in business since 2014. Complete with a storefront, The Sweet Elephant, this establishment offers two things that many people love—drinking wine and shopping! The storefront even offers coffee, pastries, and a full menu of food to pair with the various wine choices. Vino Colorado Winery has 30 varietals of wines ranging from smooth to sweet whites, moderate to dry reds, Colorado fruit wines, and even different dessert wines.

Drekar Meadery

A bit more unusual than others on this list, Drekar Meadery offers a different form of wine: mead. Instead of using fermented grapes, mead uses fermented honey. Drekar Meadery makes Frey's Sail, their flagship mead, simply with water, yeast, and Colorado wildflower honey, which is also the foundation for most of their flavors. Customers can try out the mead in Drekar's tasting room and buy bottles of their products on location or on their website, which ships to most states.

The Wines of Colorado

With a broad array of wine and delicious food items on the menu, The Wines of Colorado is not just a winery but a restaurant, tasting room, retail wine sales, and gift shop all in one. Only a 15-minute drive from downtown Colorado Springs, this business has a unique and inviting atmosphere that has been designed by its owner, Marv Parliament, and his wife. Locals and visitors alike enjoy visiting The Wines of Colorado for an experience unlike any other, nestled beneath willow trees.

For anyone who thought that a charcuterie board might be the only food option to pair with wine, think again. The Wines of Colorado has a full menu, but one of the first (and possibly most popular) on the menu is their original buffalo wine burger. This hand-formed patty is complete with grilled onions, sautéed mushrooms, and roasted green chilis. Yum!

Wine Tasting in Colorado Springs, CO

Though it's not as full of vineyards as Napa Valley, Colorado's specialty fruit wines and its other varieties to choose from are a popular reason to visit one of the many wineries located in Colorado Springs. Try out one or all of the wineries on this list whenever you next visit, or find your favorite as a regular destination.
