The stores are filled with chocolates, florists are filling their shelves with roses, and everywhere you go there seems to be subtle and not-so-subtle reminders that Cupid's big day is just around the corner.
This year, treat your significant other to an amazing day they won't soon forget. Here are a few fun date ideas for you and your honey this Valentine's Day weekend in Colorado Springs.
For The Outdoorsy Duo
Nothing says I love you for outdoorsy couples like some quality time together in the great outdoors. Although Valentine's Day is officially on Tuesday, celebrating on the weekend would allow you to take full advantage of an entire day together.
On February 12, start your day off at 8:30 A.M. with a trip to the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center for a guided tour on Chinook's nature trail to meet the resident pack and listen to the story of The Lovers. Then, on your way back to Colorado Springs, stop in to one of the many great locally-owned restaurants in Woodland Park before continuing on to The Springs. After lunch, pay a visit to Cave of the Winds for a guided tour of the caves and a trip on one of their aerial attractions (plus, show your Military ID for a discount at the box office!).
Cap off your day with a trip to Pizzeria Rustica for a savory authentic wood-fired pizza and pair it with the perfect wine or beer.
For Sophisticated Soulmates
Treat yourselves to a day at Columbine Spa! You can book a couples massage any day, but on February 14th they'll throw in complimentary strawberry mimosa and fill your room with rose-inspired aromas. Then, enjoy a dinner by one of the city's greatest culinary talents at Cheyenne Mountain Resort for their Valentine's Day Dinner, which includes lobster ceviche to start, your choice of pan seared halibut, spiced duck breast, or cocoa rubbed New York steak. Finish with a crème brulee or raspberry rose entremet cake and pair it all with a bold wine to commemorate your love for one another.
For Longtime Lovebirds
For those who have stood the test of time, celebrate your dedication to one another with some quality time in the mountains. Getaway to Breckenridge for the weekend at one of the many nearby resorts for some time away from the kids and life's many monotonous responsibilities. Start your adventure with a snowshoe tour, then head to the Clint's for a warm mid-day latte and savory or sweet treat.
Breckenridge has it all, from golfing to ziplining and natural history museums to spas. Choose the option that best fits your lifestyle to fill your afternoon. Then, make reservations at the Hearthstone Restaurant for an unforgettable dinner, with over 200 wines to choose from and entrees like blackberry elk, ginger sea scallops, and wild caught gulf red snapper. Set in a romantic Victorian home with an old-world feel, Hearthstone is one of the most upscale and romantic restaurants in the Breckenridge area.
For Chocolatey Couples
If a love of all things chocolate has brought you and yours together, the annual Chocolate Lovers Walk hosted by the Canon City Music & Blossom Festival is the place to be. The tour includes entrance into the Chocolate Lovers Headquarters where couples will receive supplies and maps of all participating chocolatiers in the city. As you visit each sweet stop, collect a chocolate-themed prize at each destination.
The cost is $15 per person or $25 for couples. Taste new treats, discover new merchants, and support Canon City businesses while celebrating love and all things chocolate. This annual event is going on its 18th year, and more than 40 merchants welcome visitors for this event.
From flowers and a small hike in the woods to diamonds and no-expense-spared getaways, the most important part of this holiday is celebrating your appreciation for one another. No matter where your plans take you, we wish you a safe and wonderful Valentine's Day!
