Six Must Do Holiday Experiences Near Colorado Springs

Thanksgiving is over, and now it is full steam ahead into the holiday season. We arguably live in a Hallmark movie-esque city, with some of the most stunning natural scenery, especially when it comes to sipping a coffee and staring at the stunning snow-capped Pikes Peak from just about anywhere in town. So what are the must-do holiday experiences on your list? We're sharing our favorites, below!

Broadmoor Hotel: This Colorado Springs Landmark transforms into a magical Christmas village during the holidays. From the life-size gingerbread house constructed by Broadmoor pastry chefs, to the outside lights around the lake, to the holiday show and New Years Eve bash, there is truly something for everyone at the Broadmoor Hotel. Tip: Head over during the day for a coffee and pastry, and sneak a peek at the stunning life size gingerbread house. 

Monument's Annual Tree Lighting: This crowd pleaser is happening on Saturday, December 6th, 2025, and it will truly remind you of a Hallmark Christmas movie. Starting at 2pm there is entertainment, crafts and activities, food trucks, & fun for all ages! Santa arrives at 5pm sharp for the tree lighting. You won't want to miss this fun & free event. 

                                                                        

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Electric Safari: If you have been to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, imagine visting it during the holidays, completely festive and lit up! It is a sight to see and remember forever! The Electric Safari requires a separate ticket from zoo admission, and runs the following dates: Dec. 5 - Dec. 23, Dec. 25 - Jan. 1, 2026, from 5pm-8:30pm. If you are a member, you can sneak in early at 4pm!

Royal Gorge Santa Express Train: Grab your family and friends and take the train ride of a lifetime through the Royal Gorge, with a surprise visit from Santa himself! This trains runs during the day and during the evening, for a completely different experience depending on daylight or evening Christmas lights. Once you ride the Santa Express train, it is sure to become a family tradition year after year. 

ICE at the Gaylord: Experience so much Christmas with dazzling displays, tempting treats, holiday shows, and festive activities. ICE! features beloved scenes from ICE! featuring Dr. Seuss' "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" brought to life through colorful, colossal ice sculptures. Ice skate, go tubing, build a bear, and more in this magical holiday wonderland located at the Gaylord Hotel near the Denver International Airport. Tip: You don't need to buy a hotel room or spend the night to enjoy ICE! Tickets can be purchased separately!

Skate at Acacia Park: Can you think of a more quintessential winter activity than ice skating outside? Look no further than Acacia Park in downtown Colorado Springs, where you can enjoy ice skating outdoors for just $15/person, which includes skate rental! Kids under 4 are free. Skating runs through January 31st, so don't stress squeezing it in before the holidays!
