The holiday season in Colorado Springs is a magical time of the year. Snow dusts the top of the mountains, colorful lights and decorations are on display, and there are tons of festive events going on around town for all ages.
From Christmas themed amusement parks to captivating shows and light displays, there’s something for everyone over the holidays. If you’re looking for fun activities to do this December, these are the top holiday events happening in Colorado Springs.
Santa Express Train
Board the Santa Express Train and embark on a magical journey through the Royal Gorge to the North Pole. Guests can sip on cocoa and snack on cocoa as the train makes its way through the canyon to meet St. Nick himself. Once Santa boards the train, he’ll hand out special gifts to all the little ones on board. Lunch, dinner and drinks are available for purchase onboard.

A Colorado Nutcracker
Get into the holiday spirit and learn about the fascinating history of Colorado Springs at A Colorado Nutcracker. This riveting performance tells the story of a young orphan named Clara who receives a nutcracker from Nikola Tesla. Over 150 ballet dancers and musicians from the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs will bring the story to life.
When: December 20 - 21, 2pm & 7pm

North Pole & Santa’s Workshop at Pikes Peak
Since 1955, Santa’s Workshop has been delighting little ones and the young at heart from the base of Pikes Peak. This vintage amusement park has over two dozen unique rides including a ferris wheel, Christmas train, roller coaster and pony carts. Guests can also indulge in treats like cider, hot chocolate, ice cream and funnel cakes at the Carousel Cafe.

Electric Safari at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo
The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is going wild this holiday season with over 85 light sculptures and inflatable animals. Explore the zoo to see spectacular displays, sip hot cocoa and join interactive experiences with some of the live animals. Santa will also be there on select days to grant wishes and take photos with little ones.

Cowboy Christmas Jubilee
Head to the Flying W Ranch this holiday season to see a Christmas spectacular performed by the Flying W Wranglers. Set amidst twinkling lights amid rock formations, the Christmas show will take you back in time to the time when a very special babe was born in a manger. The show takes place four nights a week throughout most of December.
